Check us out!
Named after the creek behind Chris’ house, and based a country block from the childhood home of the Osborne Brothers,* The Possum Creek Ramblers are a Dayton band playing a variety of contemporary and traditional bluegrass with plenty of crossover tunes snuck in there. We formed in 2022 combining friends and family into a new band with a focus on harmonies and instrumental variety. The current lineup includes Chris Lemon (vocals, banjo, dobro), Jeff Martin (vocals, bass & guitar), Christian Tobbe (vocals, guitar and bass)--of Christian T. and the Six Shooters--, Matt Lemon (mandolin, vocals)--cofounder of Lemongrass--, and Katelyn Tesla (fiddle and vocals). A number of other local musicians perform or have performed as part of the band over the years, including founding members Sylvia Gleason and Josh Laughlin, Tyler "T-Bone" Joseph, Chip Pritchard and Jerry Bullmaster.
*Yes, those Osborne Brothers! Sylvia had a chance to chat with Bobby Osborne about it when he came to The Industrial Strength Bluegrass on one of his final tours. The site is now an event venue known as Oak and Ember.
We started out gigging at a couple of community events and a campground in 2022, then we expanded and digitized our PA system in 2023 with Chris' winnings from a couple of marathons. We kicked off 2023 with a grad party in April and booked over a dozen more gigs for 2023. Since then we have gone on to compete on Dayton Battle of the Bands, perform at homes, festivals, restaurants and other venues such as the Clifton Opera House, where we recorded our music that you can now find on Spotify and other streaming services.
